My partner Marthanne has asked whether she can come to the meeting and take a few minutes to make an interesting proposal.

I can give you the gist of it but she would like to elaborate and answer any questions...

The City of Owen Sound is putting on a special New Years eve party this year at the Bayshore to mark their anniversary.

Among other things, they are planning a dance for teens. What they are looking for is to set up some form of 'socially networked' playlist that would be based on the requests of the people who might want to attend and compiled over the next couple of months.

The short of it is: they are interested and supportive of having this developed (and hosted) with open-source software. There would be no real restriction on advertising the fact that it was linux and/or open-source driven.

Secondly: there is plan to host a gaming area where the public could take on members of the Owen Sound Police and Fire Departments.
There is definitely room to set-up open source gaming (not necessarily with the PD/FD), but again with the idea that the fact could be well advertised.

The opportunity is being offered to our lug with genuine interest. Let me know if you want to hear more tomorrow.

Also, If we can connect to the screen, if there is any interest I wouldn't mind doing a brief presentation on 'filelight' which I have been using quite a bit lately.
